MS Dhoni (The Untold Story)

I really cannot remember when was the last time I went for a movie so early in the morning. I still cannot believe that I went first day first show, ditching my friends all the way for this. But trust me folks, it was worth every minute of sleep lost. And I won’t be amazed if people watch it again over the weekend.

For anything to work in this world, you need 3 things: VISION, SUBJECT & PROCESS and the movie is a perfect blend of the three.

NEERAJ PANDEY (Vision) + M.S.DHONI (Subject) + SUSHANT SINGH RAJPUT (Process). Any other permutation would not have worked at all. Like DHONI, Mr. PANDEY also takes care of the minute details which in return makes the visual, a treat to watch. Screenplay is phenomenal but it does not mean that it’s unblemished. The film needs some editing as it continues to stretch enough to nearly make you apprehensive as its length is 3 hrs. 10 mins. Several moments stand out like his tiff with YUVRAJ SINGH in RANJI, and him not subsisting with his profession.

Initially I was really skeptical of SUSHANT playing the lead, but he proved me dead wrong. He is the life of this film. This under rated actor has got under the skin of DHONI and portrayed exactly the same. SUSHANT admits that he had to practice cricket 5 hours a day for 12 months to be able to impersonate DHONI. Such is his performance in this movie, that makes us connect to the character. I just cannot imagine someone else playing the lead but him. Disha Patani and Kiara Advani playing DHONI’s love interests were fabulous in their respective parts.

This biopic is the fourth of its kind post BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG,MARY KOM and AZHAR. All these films talk about the struggle to the top. These movies, along with motivating individuals to pursue their dreams, also impart a very important message that nothing is impossible if one has the will for it. This film is no different as it also showcases one important aspect of an individual i.e. CHARACTER. The guy has faced it all from CAREER DECISIONS to BOARD POLITICS, from HEART BREAK to LOSING A LOVED ONE and from DEPRESSION to HARMONY and then CONQUERING THE WORLD, all with a SMILE. We all may find women like him but a man like him is the rarest of all. His ethics, his modus operandi, his way of thinking in crisis, etc. are few traits to ponder upon. My takeaways from the movie: STAY CALM, STAY GROUNDED, TAKE INITIATIVE, ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO PERFORM & most importantly SHARE THE CREDIT. He truly deserves the title CAPTAIN COOL.

Please go and watch the journey of a man who stays reserved but has always exploded. A man who is not just a great sportsman but an individual to be proud of. A man who is not only intelligent but a man of honor.

@MSD: We have time and again celebrated your efforts & success for INDIA. Now is the time to celebrate you and your journey.

Believe me, I already have.
