IPTL: The IPL of Tennis

To all tennis fans,
Get ready for some tennis and some fun,
For the IPTL season has just begun…
The tradition of tennis we wish to continue,
But this time in a new venue,
We want you to have a good time
And watch the players play in their prime
For ‘tis is the season to be jolly,
With some forehand, backhand and volley!

Held in cities like Tokyo, Hyderabad and Singapore,
Where tennis is not hardcore,
Here the old mixes with the new,
To create some hullabaloo!

For those who play in these teams,
are the ones reigning the sport supreme,
Go out and cheer out loud,
To show your support to the team you wish to see
standing proud!

The International Premier Tennis League is back for the third time with the four teams Indian Aces, Japan Warriors, Singapore Slammers and UAE Royals. The event, held from December 2-11, promises nothing but the best. Founded by Mahesh Bhupathi, it aims to bring the best of tennis to Asia.
According to me, the IPTL is like a mini-party, where players play, joke around, interact with each other and entertain the crowds. Many players like Federer and Nadal have professed to like this new format. It is also a great opportunity for younger players in the team to bond with senior players like Sampras and Carlos Moya and with the current reigners Federer, Nadal, Murray and Djokovic.
On a personal note, I’d say the IPTL is great fun, having attended it in its inaugural year itself. Three days of tennis, tennis and more tennis! It may be a little expensive, but if you love tennis and cannot go abroad to watch the Grand Slams or the Masters 1000s, this one is worth it! My IPTL experience is one I shall cherish forever.
This time around, we will get to witness players like Federer and Serena Williams playing for the Indian Aces and Singapore Slammers respectively. While among the legends, players like Safin, Philippoussis, Moya and Ivanisevic will be representing their respective teams.
In the earlier editions, Djokovic, Nadal, Murray and Sharapova had come, adding to the star value but this time they don’t seem to show any inclination towards coming!
Nevertheless, it looks like an exciting line-up, with of course Federer and Williams being the star attractions!
Now all we have to do is wait and watch and enjoy the sport.
