England complete yet another series drubbing at home, this time against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka some how managed to avoid a white wash (ofcourse with the help of rain gods, at least they showed some mercy). Sri Lanka is still going through their rebuilding period after the retirement of Sanga and Jayawardene so this series was always going to be difficult almost too much for them. The SL team after being blown away by Anderson’s ten wicket haul in the first test showed just a little bit progress by taking the third game into the fifth day. It was Herath, the seniormost player of the team who showed some intent and courage while bowling and some batting. England on the other hand had only one plan in mind and that was to dominate right from the word go. Alastair Cook became the youngest man to score 10K runs in the process. Alex Hales gave England a much needed solid opener which they were in search for a long time. Jhonny Bairstow with a complee new technique and stance makeover made runs in bulk and got the man of the series for England for his 387 runs. Only Joe Root managed not to get runs. England bowlers did what they know best and that is attack and take wickets and take some more wickets.
Factology: Sri Lanka has not a lost a test at Lords in 25 years, they have’nt won either.
